SHAUN DONOVAN RELEASES MULTILINGUAL VIDEOS ENCOURAGING NEW YORKERS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF RANKED-CHOICE VOTING THIS ELECTION
NEW YORK, NY — New Yorkers for Donovan today released two voter education videos — in Spanish and English — empowering New Yorkers to take advantage of New York City’s ranked-choice voting ahead of the primary election on June 22.
This year, for the first time, New Yorkers eligible to vote will be able to rank up to five candidates in order of preference when they vote by mail, early in-person, or on election day. The following is a statement from the campaign’s senior advisor Amelia Adams, who also played a pivotal role in bringing ranked-choice voting to New York City:
“Starting this year, New Yorkers will have a new way to vote in their local elections called ranked-choice voting. Ranked-choice voting is a powerful democratic tool to ensure that elections are fair and that voters have greater say in choosing their representatives,” said Amelia Adams, Senior Advisor, New Yorkers for Donovan. “When voting in this coming primary election on June 22 — by mail or in person — New Yorkers will now have the power to rank candidates. I am confident that by having more choices, not less, New Yorkers will be even more empowered to make their voices heard this election.”
