VOLUNTEER SUPPORT FOR DONOVAN SURGES, CAMPAIGN DELIVERS NEARLY 12,000 SIGNATURES TO SECURE BALLOT PLACEMENT
NEW YORK, NY — Today, former Obama-Biden administration Housing Secretary and Budget Director, and former New York City Housing Commissioner Shaun Donovan, announced that his campaign for Mayor of New York City has easily met the threshold to secure placement on the June primary ballot, collecting 11,942 unique signatures from registered Democrats across the city.
“Given the unprecedented times we are living in, securing almost 12,000 signatures in a way that put the safety of voters and supporters first was paramount. But our energized and determined campaign staff, supported by equally dedicated volunteers, more than rose to occasion to ensure that we could make it on the ballot, bringing us one step closer to enacting real change and reimagining our city as a city that works for all New Yorkers,” said NYC Mayoral Candidate Shaun Donovan. “I was proud to see our team safely and responsibly put in the work and participate in this fundamental part of our democratic process. I look forward to marching down the path to victory with them, together.”
“Shaun’s message of experience and equity is resonating with voters in every single borough, as evidenced by our surge of support from volunteers and the nearly 12,000 signatures our team has been able to secure in such a short amount of time and under extraordinary circumstances,” said New Yorkers for Donovan Organizing Director Rameera Robbalaa. “Shaun Donovan is The Man with the Plan, and every single day, more and more New Yorkers are seeing that.”
“Our team has been working hard to engage with voters from Brooklyn to the Bronx, and every place in between, in a way that puts their health and safety first, and the outpouring of support Shaun has received and the 11,942 signatures we were able to collect, is a testament to that work,” said New Yorkers for Donovan Campaign Manager Brendan McPhillips. “We will continue to campaign responsibly in the months to come and look forward to reaching even more New Yorkers in the process.”
